The Windows 10 May 2020 Update, the new Windows 10 update, is already reaching all users, with some very interesting news.
The coronavirus has not stopped Microsoft, which has continued the development of the new Windows 10 May 2020 Update. However, perhaps it would have been better if this update had been delayed.
As usual, the system receives two of these great new packages every year, although this time the changes are not drastic nor do they affect performance.
What’s New in Windows 10 Update
For the May update this year, known as Windows 10 version 2004 , Microsoft has decided to implement some changes that may seem minor, but may improve the long-term experience.
For example, one of the changes makes it easier for us to log in without a password , thanks to Windows Hello. If we have a webcam with facial recognition, a fingerprint reader or a PIN number, now we can activate it more easily in the system settings and thus not have to use our password.
If we use Bluetooth devices , we will also be happy to know that it will now be easier to pair them with our Windows 10 computer; in the notifications section we will now find everything you need, instead of having to go to Settings as before.
Reinstalling Windows is one of those experiences that are more annoying than they should be; now a new option will appear that will allow us to reinstall from the cloud . If we choose it, the latest version of Windows 10 will automatically be downloaded from Microsoft’s servers; Of course, we will need an Internet connection, obviously.
For gamers, the arrival of DirectX 12 Ultimate will allow you to get games with better graphics, without sacrificing the frame rate per second; However, that will depend on the developers using the new features, so it’s one of those changes that we won’t notice until new games come out.
Curiously, one of the programs that will receive more news will be the classic Notepad ; Despite being 30 years old, Microsoft has decided to implement a new search and replace function, text enlargement, and even an indicator that the changes have not been saved.
If you use an ARM-based Windows device, such as the new Surface Pro X, you will now also have access to the My Phone app to make calls and send text messages, pairing the computer with your smartphone.
Microsoft reports problems
The update to Windows 10 version 2004 is now available, and if you don’t do anything it will probably install itself in the next few weeks; although you can also force the installation by accessing Settings and ‘Update and Security’.
However, Microsoft itself does not recommend that we force the upgrade to the latest version of Windows. Specifically, the new Windows 10 has driver problems, which make devices such as mice, graphics cards or screens not work correctly. We can also see the dreaded blue screen if we do things like connect or disconnect a Thunderbolt device.
Microsoft has already identified problems with some drivers from Realtek, Synaptics, Conexant, Intel, and more. Although it hopes to fix them soon, it does not recommend the installation of Windows 10 2004, and in fact, blocks it if the system detects that we use devices from those brands.
